What is an insulator?
Insulator is a special insulation control, also known as support insulator, which plays the role of supporting wires, preventing current from returning to the ground, and increasing creepage distance. There are porcelain insulators, glass insulators and epoxy resin insulators.
The insulators sold by our company are mainly epoxy resin insulators. The insulators are made of high-quality epoxy resin materials and are integrally molded using the APG process. They have high mechanical strength, strong arc resistance, high density, smooth surface, and good cold resistance. It has the advantages of good heat resistance and good electrical insulation properties. It is widely used in the power industry. It mainly plays the role of support and insulation. It is the ideal choice for distribution equipment such as distribution cabinets, circuit breakers, switch cabinets, and isolating switches. Insulators essential for safety.
The sensor is similar to an insulator. The main difference is that there is a sensing core rod (capacitor) inside the sensor and two screws at the bottom of the outside. The two screws on the bottom act as conductors inducing electrical current, transmitting information to the powered display. Commonly used in grounding switches. One grounding switch is connected to three sensors to provide power to the live display. The sensor can be used as an insulator, and the screw must be grounded when used instead. Some insulators can also be made into sensors, please confirm with us before placing an order.
You can see that the surface of our insulators or sensors is not smooth. Why are their surfaces generally made into corrugated shapes? The main reasons are as follows:
1. The arc creeping length is extended, so at the same effective height, the arc creeping distance is increased. And each corrugation can play the role of blocking the arc. The twists of epoxy resin insulators can be made deeper and deeper. Therefore, the weight and volume of epoxy resin insulators with the same voltage are much smaller than those of ceramic insulators.
2. It can prevent water flow on rainy days. Sewage cannot flow directly from the upper part to the lower part of the insulator, forming a water column and causing a grounding short circuit.
3. When dust falls on the insulator, its convex and concave parts make the dust unevenly distributed, thus ensuring the voltage resistance strength to a certain extent.
Epoxy resin insulator use environment:
1. Altitude can’t exceed 1000m,and the altitude of plateau type can’t exceed 3000m;
2. Surrounding temperature ranges from -10℃ to +40℃,and the daily average temperature;
3. Daily average value of Relative humidity can’t exceed 95%,and the monthly average;
4. There is no any dust, smoke, pollution of corrosive or flammable air, vapor and salt fog;
5. There is no any frequent vibration or bumping in installation place;
6. The product all could run in the case of dew and Ⅱ feculence condition;
Insulator maintenance
1. Regular cleaning: Regularly clean the surface of the insulator, remove the attached dust, oil and other impurities, in order to maintain the insulating properties of the insulator.
2. Insulator leakage detection: regular testing of insulators whether there is leakage phenomenon, – once the leakage is found, should be dealt with in a timely manner or replace the insulator.
3. Insulator appearance inspection: Regularly inspect the appearance of insulators, and replace insulators with obvious damage or pollution.
4. Insulation resistance test of insulators: Insulation resistance test should be carried out regularly to ensure that the insulating property of insulators meets the requirements.
5. Anti-corrosion treatment of insulators: For insulators in corrosive environments, anti-corrosion treatment should be carried out to prolong the use of insulators life.
